Can I hold trades overnight?
No, overnight trading is not allowed during both the Evaluation and Funded phases.
All positions must be closed before the daily market close (CME Globex session).
Any position left open beyond this time violates the overnight rule.
What time is the market close?
The CME session closes and reopens as follows:
Session | New York (ET) | UTC |
Market Close | 4:10 PM ET | 21:10 UTC |
Market Reopen | 6:00 PM ET | 23:00 UTC |
There is a maintenance window between 4:10 PM and 6:00 PM ET (21:10–23:00 UTC) where trading is disabled.
Make sure to close all positions a few minutes before 4:10 PM ET (21:10 UTC) to avoid forced liquidation or disqualification.
What happens if I forget to close a position?
If you forget to close your trades:
The system will automatically close all open positions shortly after 4:10 PM ET (21:10 UTC).
This automatic closure protects your account from large overnight moves.
However, you are still fully responsible for ensuring all trades are closed before the cutoff.
If any position remains open or a new one is detected during the overnight window, it will be treated as a rule breach, and the account may be disqualified.
⚠️ Even though the system helps by closing trades automatically, traders must actively monitor and close their positions before the session ends.
Why is overnight trading restricted?
Overnight periods involve:
Low liquidity and higher volatility during CME maintenance,
Price gaps on reopen,
System resets for risk management and data feeds.
To keep the environment fair and stable for all traders, overnight trading is disabled.
When can I trade again?
You can open new positions once the market reopens at:
6:00 PM ET (23:00 UTC) — start of the next trading day.
Trading remains available until 4:10 PM ET (21:10 UTC) the following day.
Key takeaway
✅ Close all positions before 4:10 PM ET (21:10 UTC).
⚙️ The system will automatically close remaining trades, but you are still responsible.
🚫 If any position stays open or reopens overnight, it will disqualify the account.
